Holistic Care: A Breath of Fresh Air
Holistic healthcare practitioners view and treat a person’s health based on their entire being; mind, body and spirit. We acknowledge and understand that surgery or drugs that target a specific symptom or area of the body have their place, and are extremely useful; but are not the end-all of care. Often times these methods overlook subtle but extremely vital aspects of health that need to be addressed for true healing to occur. We as holistic practitioners view our role in healthcare as that of a partner or a guide, working with our clients on a very personal level to help them achieve their goals. At Geppert Holistic Healing we use acupuncture, Chinese herbs, massage and bodywork, and Qigong as our therapies of expertise to help people reach their optimum quality of health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complex and dynamic system of medicine originating well over three thousand years ago. TCM practitioners view the body as a conduit between heaven and earth for the life-giving energy known as Qi (pronounced "chee"). They believe that Qi flows through the body along proscribed pathways or channels. The body, mind and spirit are viewed as healthy and whole when the movement of Qi is abundant, smooth and uninhibited. Poor lifestyle, injury, harsh environmental conditions and extreme emotions can disrupt the flow of or deplete the source of our Qi causing pain and illness. A TCM doctor uses numerous techniques to enhance, regulate and restore the balance of energies. These tools include (but are not limited to): acupuncture, moxabustion, herbal medicine, Tui Na, fire cupping, and exercise and energy work.
Massage therapy is a general term used to describe a wide array of techniques from around the world that manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Some of the more common examples are Esalen, deep tissue, pre/post natal, Swedish, Sports Massage and Reflexology. Once thought to be the sole domain of elite health spas, massage has rapidly become a mainstream service to a wide variety of clients. Regular massage has been shown to promote muscle tone and flexibility, stimulate circulation, improve sleep and reduce stress. In this way, better health can be cultivated and maintained without invasive procedures or harsh drugs.
Drawing on our diverse training in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and western massage therapy, we strive to offer a uniquely comprehensive healing experience. We utilize combined aspects of the previously mentioned methods to help our clients regain or attain the level of health and wellness they deserve.
